The foley-ecotech MBR filtration is based on the separation of solids suspended in an aqueous solution by means of a pressure differential. Water permeates through the ecotech membrane and the solids are retained on the concentrate side of the membrane surface. The foley-ecotech MBR process employs a high performance hydrophilic membrane which has very good wetting properties with a low affinity to fouling and covering layer forming material contained within the waste water. The permeate pore size lie in the ultra filtration range.

The foley-ecotech MBR units are housed in stainless steel units and are aerated by a coarse bubble system below each unit. A series of these membrane units are submerged within an activated sludge treatment tank. The aeration necessary for the treatment of the liquors generates a vigorous upward cross-flow over the membranes, essential to keep fouling of the filtration surface to a minimum, this allows high flow rates (up to 60l/m3h) at a low trans membrane pressure (less than 100mbar) whilst retaining all solids, bacteria and the majority of germs. In addition to the liquid phase only ions and low-molecular dissolved substances pass through the the membrane.

Discharge from foley-ecotech M.B.R. can be reused for irrigation, flushing, closed system central heating etc.
